Position Overview
The Saskatchewan Research Council's (SRC) Rare Earth Element Division is seeking a Research Technologist to support various research and development initiatives. This role will contribute to the operations at SRC's pioneering Rare Earth Processing Facility, which stands as North America's first fully integrated commercial demonstration site featuring hydrometallurgy, separation, and metal smelting units. Be part of a dynamic team dedicated to establishing a rare earth element (REE) technology hub in Saskatchewan, serving as a model for future commercial REE projects and supply chain advancements.
Key Responsibilities
- Aid in the design, development, testing, maintenance, and repair of instrumentation and control systems for diverse research and development projects.
- Support the upkeep of LabVIEW-based software applications.
- Prepare samples for analysis, perform a range of routine laboratory tests, assist in data collection, and operate laboratory and pilot-scale equipment.
- Manage logistics for materials and components across various suppliers and SRC facilities.
Required Qualifications
- A diploma in mechanical, instrumentation, electrical, or design and manufacturing engineering technology; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a diploma.
- Preferred experience of two to five years in areas such as design and drafting (AutoCAD, Inventor, Plant 3D, Vault), software programming (LabVIEW, Python, Arduino), and hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical systems.

- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to follow instructions and work both independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency in instrumentation, controllers, robotics, and machining.
- Basic fabrication skills and experience with hand and power tools.
This position may require a flexible schedule during active testing phases, including evening and weekend shifts.
A satisfactory original Criminal Record Check will be required prior to the commencement of employment duties.
