Job Description

TV2 Consulting is seeking an experienced Android Application Architect to lead the design and development of robust and scalable Android applications for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and architect Android applications that meet the needs of our clients
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and developers to ensure successful delivery of high-quality Android applications
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Android frameworks, SDKs, and development tools
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest Android development trends and technologies
  • Lead the development team in implementing Agile methodologies, Pair Programming, and Test Driven Development (TDD)
  • Work closely with clients to understand their needs and deliver solutions that meet their expectations

Requirements:

  • At least 8 years of experience in Android development
  • Proven track record of architecting and designing Android applications
  • Strong knowledge of Android frameworks, SDKs, and development tools
  • Experience with Kotlin and Java programming languages
  • Proficient in designing and building user interfaces with XML layouts or programmatically with ConstraintLayout
  • Experience with RESTful APIs and integrating third-party libraries
  • Familiarity with Git and version control
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated expertise in native Android development
  • Proficient in Jetpack Compose, Navigation, and core libraries
  • Experience in native Android software development with Kotlin
  • Strong coding skills with a proven ability to write clean, effective, well-tested code
  • Working knowledge of MVVM, MVP, or other architecture patterns
  • Familiar with Android Studio performance tools and optimization techniques
  • Familiar with Kotlin Coroutines
  • Understanding of Android performance analysis and optimization techniques
  • Enthusiasm for Agile methodologies, Pair Programming, and Test Driven Development (TDD)
  • Experience working directly with clients
  • At least four years of experience with Kotlin
  • Complete understanding of the mobile software development lifecycle
  • Advanced knowledge of Android Studio, Git, Jenkins, and Charles

Benefits:

  • Type of job: Temporary Contractor – 1 year
  • Location: Ottawa, Ontario
  • Work hours are Monday - Friday, normal 37.5 hour week
