Job Overview

Aecon is seeking an experienced Project Controls Manager to lead our project teams in delivering complex projects on time, within budget, and with high-quality results.

About the Role

This is a senior-level role that requires strong leadership and technical skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The successful candidate will have a strong background in project controls, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain project controls systems, oversee cost and schedule baseline setting, and lead meetings to communicate project performance status.
  • Lead a team of project controls staff specializing in planning, scheduling, cost control, change management, and risk management.
  • Support project managers in tracking overall project health, establish and maintain a communication plan to ensure accurate and timely flow of information.
  • Analyze and report project performance key metrics, propose corrective actions to maintain performance/productivity, and provide timely alerts on adverse trends.
  • Implement and maintain an earned value management plan to measure project performance, identify variances, and inform accurate forecasting.
  • Develop and implement project-specific project controls plans, documenting processes and procedures to be followed on the project.
  • Provide commercial and technical expertise to support proposal development and provide commercial input into contractually defined project control requirements.
Requirements:
  • 10-15 years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated analytical and adaptive thinking.
  • Quantitative, engineering, or construction management post-secondary degree.
  • Strong team collaboration skills.
  • Detail-oriented approach, focused on quality.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Agility and flexibility in a dynamic environment.
  • Innovative problem-solving skills.
  • EPC contractor (self-perform) experience.
  • Construction field experience.
  • Mega-project or portfolio projects experience.
  • Demonstrated project controls technical knowledge.
Nuclear Requirements:
  • The position requires meeting mandated nuclear export controls requirements for employment.
  • A comprehensive security check and clearance process are required as part of the background check.
Salary:

$120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience.
