Job Summary:

The Corporate Counsel position at H&R Block Canada's Legal Department involves providing expert legal counsel and guidance in areas such as third-party contracts, privacy compliance, regulatory compliance, employment relations, franchise law, record retention & data governance, and litigation management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing, drafting, negotiating, and managing contracts to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Developing and implementing privacy policies to protect sensitive information.
  • Ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, including data governance best practices.
  • Overseeing litigation matters and providing guidance on dispute resolution.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive business growth and minimize risk.

Requirements:

  • Law degree from a recognized institution.
  • Practicing member in good standing with a Canadian Law Society.
  • 5-7 years of practice in a business environment.
  • Proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Leadership experience within the financial services sector is an asset.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluency in French is a preference for this role.
