As a Production Supervisor at GATX, you will play a critical role in leading and directing the railcar production process for assigned work centers at our Moose Jaw Service Center. Your expertise will ensure that employees performing repairs on railcars have the necessary tools, equipment, information, and training to complete their tasks within GATX's standards.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage work centers to ensure efficient and cost-effective production
- Plan, organize, and schedule process repairs to railcars
- Mentor employees to perform daily tasks safely and adhere to GATX Health and Safety rules and procedures
- Recruit, hire, train, mentor, and manage employee performance
- Perform audits to ensure high-quality repairs
- Accountable for production
- Use technical expertise and problem-solving ability to achieve and maintain quality repair
- Approve daily time cards from direct reports in LCA
- Develop ideas for operational improvement and growth
- Submit required metrics and documentation in a timely manner
- Communicate work area status/activities to the Production Coordinator
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a fast-paced production environment, preferably in Railcar Repair, Blast and Finishing
- Knowledge of Welding procedures and railcar materials
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
- Knowledge of Association of American Railroads (AAR) and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) rules and regulations
- Ability to lead a versatile team
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, in English
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office Suite, MMS, Shop Portal, ECM, MIS, SEM, SharePoint, Citrix, GagePack, Power BI, Lotus Notes, Customer Spec Database, Gasket Spec Database, eMaint, and Labor Collection
