Counsellor - Housing Program Support

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Counsellor to provide support to residents within our Housing Program. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of mental health, addiction, and sexual abuse issues, as well as knowledge of the principles of life skills training, focused problem solving, and intervention strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to residents, modeling a positive attitude, utilizing affirmation and encouragement while integrating recovery concepts and client empowerment.
  • Provide education on a variety of issues relevant to the client group, including life skills training, conflict resolution, and advocacy.
  • Demonstrate reliability, communication skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a team member.
  • Work well under pressure, maintaining strong professional manner in dealing with clients, staff, families, and the public.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or degree from an accredited College or University in the Human Services field.
  • One year of related work experience.
  • Valid driver's licence and use of a vehicle to transport clients.
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, confidentiality, and the principles of client-centred service delivery.
