About the Role

The Administration portuaire de Montréal is seeking a highly skilled Occupational Health and Safety Advisor to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Health and Safety Programs

Assist the Occupational Health, Safety and Well-being Manager in developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating various occupational health and safety programs, procedures, and processes.

Conduct Health and Safety Training

Establish and coordinate a health and safety training program based on identified needs, and coordinate internal and external health and safety training activities.

Conduct Audits and Investigations

Conduct audits and support supervisors in site inspections, investigations, and analyses following an employment injury or upon receiving communications of events, ensuring follow-up.

Manage Contractor Safety

Oversee prevention programs for contractors and subcontractors, and manage the contractor management software (CMS).

Advise on Health and Safety Matters

Advise internal clients, assess compliance requirements, and recommend effective risk management measures.

Manage Health and Safety Records

Manage compensation and return to work files.

Qualifications
  • Education

Bachelor's degree in industrial relations, certificate in occupational health and safety a strong asset. Any other combination of relevant and equivalent experience and education may be considered.

Experience

A minimum of seven (7) to ten (10) years practical, applied experience in a similar position, in a unionized environment.

Skills

Sound knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and regulations, ideally in a company whose activities are under federal jurisdictions, as well as the Canadian Rail Operating Rules.

Language

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French.
