Job Overview

As a Team Leader, Application support and modernization, you will provide leadership and business solutions to drive innovation across the NCC and optimize business services in the delivery of Business Applications strategic and tactical projects.

You will supervise project teams engaged in the design, development, implementation and integration of new IT solutions for internal clients. You will communicate with stakeholders and establish clear deliverables and milestones using an activity-based project schedule.

You will apply your knowledge of system development life cycle phases as well as quality coding and testing techniques, to define the system design, data structures, system workflows, reporting requirements and user interfaces that will deliver a high-quality solution that satisfies the client's needs.

Key Qualifications

  • A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Computer Science, Information Technology or in a related discipline to the position.
  • Five (5) to eight (8) years of experience in each of the following criteria:
    • Managing IT projects as well as developing and implementing new business solutions using advanced development technologies.
    • Planning and estimating work efforts and timelines and managing a prioritized backlog of projects and operational work.
    • Supervising, mentoring and providing in-depth technical advice and leading work teams, including IT personnel and clients.
  • Knowledge of legislations, policies, principles, standards, best practices, methods and techniques, technologies, and current and emerging trends pertaining to application development.
  • Knowledge of modern programming tools, languages and software used for application development and business intelligence.
  • Knowledge of business process management, source code management and testing techniques/tools.
  • Knowledge of IT security principles, methods, practices, policies and tools to ensure adequate technical and organizational safeguards to protect the information and application.

  • Experience implementing large IT corporate systems, such as:
    • Software as a Service (SaaS) systems.
    • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
    • Human Resource Management systems.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft development.

Conditions of Employment

  • Possess or eligible to obtain Secret security clearance.
  • Linguistic profile: Bilingual CBC.
  • Position is in the National Capital Region. The person selected for this position must reside within a commutable distance from the workplace at 40 Elgin Street, Ottawa, Ontario.
