The Lakeshore Regional Police Service is a leading provider of policing services in northern Alberta, serving five First Nations communities. We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Recruitment and Training Officer to join our team.

As a Recruitment and Training Officer, you will play a critical role in attracting and assessing the best possible applicants for the Constable-Investigator position. You will create partnerships and establish liaisons between the LRPS and communities to encourage suitable candidates to consider employment as a Constable-Investigator. Additionally, you will oversee all aspects of the Cadet Training Program and employee training.

Your duties will include:

  • Assessing applications, providing advice, conducting interviews, administering tests, and organizing ride-alongs for potential candidates
  • Responding to phone calls, emails, letters, and in-person inquiries relative to recruitment
  • Creating partnerships and establishing liaisons between the LRPS and communities to encourage suitable candidates to consider employment as a Constable-Investigator
  • Working with the Crime Prevention Unit on maintaining and establishing positive relationships between the LRPS, community members, and governing bodies of the five First Nations and its program portfolio holders
  • Developing strategies and programs to be delivered to the communities
  • Incorporating cross-cultural awareness into recruitment initiatives

You will also be responsible for:

  • Oversseeing the Cadet Training Program in consultation with Senior Management
  • Acting as Training Coordinator and ensuring re-occurring accreditations are met for employees
  • Administering formal training and officer safety training procedures
  • Developing and updating training matrix for all employees

In addition, you will address public complaints from various sources, including the LRPS website, phone calls, emails, letters, and in-person. You will directly contact employees and members of the public to discuss complaints and resolution, using active listening, dispute resolution, and written communication.
