The Assistant Director of Care and Operations will play a key role in ensuring the highest standard of care is provided to our residents. This position will be responsible for directing and mentoring care staff, providing direct resident care, and maintaining accountability of all nursing staff.
Key Responsibilities- Engage and mobilize the care team to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with staff, residents, and external stakeholders.
- Model the values and leadership behaviors of the organization and inspire others to do the same.
- Monitor and supervise the care provided to residents, conducting audits and providing corrective actions as needed.
- Participate in care conferences, med reviews, and quality improvement meetings.
- Assume the role of a nurse on the floor in the event of staffing shortages.
- Communicate with physicians and resident families to provide information regarding resident care.
- Hire clinical staff as needed and participate in performance management and reviews.
- Lead monthly meetings with care staff and participate in occupational health and safety meetings.
- Review and follow up on internal incident reports.
- Assist with clinical audits and health authority mandatory audits.
- Ensure resident care plans are developed and up to date, and review and submit reportable incident reports in a timely manner.
- Be financially responsible when managing nursing resources.
- Actively participate in orientation of new staff, community programs, meetings, committees, and educational in-services.
- Maintain a safe environment for residents, families, and staff.
- Current registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
- A degree in nursing and progressive nursing experience and education, demonstrating leadership and administrative skills.
- Minimum of three years' work experience in management/administration.
- Minimum of three years' work experience in geriatrics or a suitable combination of education and experience.
- All successful applicants must pass the vulnerable sector criminal record check applicable to provincial guidelines.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently.
- Ability to understand and give verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work within electronic environments.
- Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and mentoring skills.
- Ability to manage conflict.
- Excellent time management skills.
