About the Role

The Health Care Aide (HCA) is a vital member of our care team, providing holistic and quality care to our residents. As an HCA, you will work closely with the Director of Care and other team members to ensure the highest level of care and respect for our residents.

Responsibilities
  • Provide personal care for residents, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and assisting with meals.
  • Respond to call bells and alarms, and observe and monitor residents' progress, symptoms, and behavioral changes.
  • Utilize proper safety protocols when operating mechanical aids, and assist with lifting and transferring residents.
  • Provide residents with nutritional assistance, and encourage participation in food service and clean up.
  • Perform laundry and involve residents in organizing and maintaining their home environment.
  • Attend and participate in community and education programs, and work collaboratively with all team members and supervisors.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Graduate from a recognized Care Aide Program.
  • Active registration with the British Columbia Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry.
  • Food Safe Level 1 Certificate and Medication Administration Certification are assets.
  • Previous experience in a long term care facility is an asset.
  • Demonstrates ability to provide compassionate and empathetic care, and ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently.
  • All successful applicants must pass the vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check applicable to Provincial guidelines.
