About the Role:

The Digital Construction Project Specialist coordinates construction projects using BIM tools to anticipate and resolve critical issues. This role involves daily coordination services based on design documents to deliver construction projects on time.

Fitzrovia is a vertically integrated development and asset manager focused on Class-A and vintage-style apartment buildings across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and Montreal.

As a Digital Construction Project Specialist, you will review program and design requirements using BIM tools, formulate contingency plans with the Manager/Director, Digital Construction, and Construction team, and prepare RFI's and related illustrations to document design drawing issues.

You will also follow up with Consultants and other third parties to resolve RFI's and drawing issues in a timely manner, review Consultant Site Instruction drafts, and provide necessary corrections.

This role requires strong project management skills, ability to cultivate positive and effective relationships and communications with stakeholders, and excellent knowledge of Microsoft office programs, particularly Excel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review program and design requirements using BIM tools to proactively anticipate critical constructability issues.
  • Formulate contingency plans with the Manager/Director, Digital Construction, and Construction team.
  • Prepare RFI's and related illustrations to document design drawing issues, shop drawing inquiries, conflicts, and interferences across various disciplines.
  • Follow up with Consultants and other third parties to resolve RFI's and drawing issues in a timely manner.
  • Review Consultant Site Instruction drafts and provide necessary corrections, then coordinate with the project management team to issue the Site Instruction including all pertinent information.
  • Develop 3D views and illustrations as requested by Fitzrovia, Project Management or Site Team.
  • Create and maintain sequencing drawings for coordination of critical areas and site logistics to be reviewed by Manager/Director, Digital Construction, and the Construction team.
  • Follow and enforce standards established in the BIM Execution Plan (BxP).
  • Provide support and coordination to the project team during preconstruction and construction phase.
  • Conduct site conflict resolution, 3D Laser Scanning and fact checking under the guidance of Manager/Director, Digital Construction.
  • Participate in research and development initiatives for the Fitzrovia team, including new technology implementations.
  • Review and manage the construction schedule in conjunction with the construction management team, in addition to create and maintain 4D simulations.
  • Develop and review tender packages for various trade scopes and reference the playbook to include any pertinent information and ensure the lessons learned have been incorporated into the scope of work.
  • Participate in project meetings with consultants, trades, and the construction management team and update meeting minutes when assigned.
  • Advise fellow team members of potential problems, work interferences or schedule difficulties while assisting in circumventing/resolving such conflicts.

Qualifications and Experiences:

  • Bachelors Degree or Advanced Diploma in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or a related field.
  • Additional education, including Building Information Modelling (BIM) Certification, will be considered an asset.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in the Construction industry, preferably at site.
  • Knowledge of Autodesk is a must-have.
  • Knowledge of construction processes, including phases, pre-construction and construction is mandatory.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to cultivate positive and effective relationships and communications with stakeholders.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft office programs, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and within tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, curious, responsive, and result driven.
  • Strong teamwork, decision & problem-solving, organizational and communication skills.
  • Able to learn new software quickly.
  • Ability to read and interpret design and construction related documents.

Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience
