Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Paper Handler to join our team at Atlantic Packaging. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for the transportation of paper rolls to and from the Press area using a motorized clamp truck and the manual set up of rolls in the Press unwind section.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport paper rolls to and from the printing press using a motorized clamp truck.
  • Load and unload paper rolls onto and from the paper printing machine in a timely and precise manner.
  • Safely operate hoist to lift and install print cylinders.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on paper-handling equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, and minor adjustments, to keep them in optimal working condition.
  • Set up and adjust the paper feed and alignment mechanisms on the printing press, working closely with the Press Operators to optimize printing performance.
  • Monitor paper supply levels during printing runs and replenish as necessary to avoid interruptions.
  • Identify and report any paper defects, damages, or irregularities to supervisors to ensure high print quality and minimize waste.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while handling paper materials and operating equipment to prevent incidents and ensure a safe work environment.
  • Assist in other general labour tasks as needed in the production area.

Requirements

  • Ability to do repetitive lifting, bending, and stair climbing.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to work autonomously and with little direction.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Exhibit a sense of urgency and be able to demonstrate the ability to solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid Forklift License.

Working Conditions

This is a rotating shift position, with days, nights, and afternoons available. The starting wage is $24.17, with opportunities for advancement and a competitive benefits package.
