Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Paper Handler to join our team at Atlantic Packaging. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for the transportation of paper rolls to and from the Press area using a motorized clamp truck and the manual set up of rolls in the Press unwind section.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport paper rolls to and from the printing press using a motorized clamp truck.
- Load and unload paper rolls onto and from the paper printing machine in a timely and precise manner.
- Safely operate hoist to lift and install print cylinders.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on paper-handling equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, and minor adjustments, to keep them in optimal working condition.
- Set up and adjust the paper feed and alignment mechanisms on the printing press, working closely with the Press Operators to optimize printing performance.
- Monitor paper supply levels during printing runs and replenish as necessary to avoid interruptions.
- Identify and report any paper defects, damages, or irregularities to supervisors to ensure high print quality and minimize waste.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while handling paper materials and operating equipment to prevent incidents and ensure a safe work environment.
- Assist in other general labour tasks as needed in the production area.
Requirements
- Ability to do repetitive lifting, bending, and stair climbing.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Ability to work autonomously and with little direction.
- Detail oriented.
- Exhibit a sense of urgency and be able to demonstrate the ability to solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid Forklift License.
Working Conditions
This is a rotating shift position, with days, nights, and afternoons available. The starting wage is $24.17, with opportunities for advancement and a competitive benefits package.
