Job SummaryThe primary focus of the Manufacturing Efficiency Engineer is to analyze and optimize plastic injection molding processes, ensuring optimal production efficiency, quality, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with company safety standards.
We offer a competitive salary range of $35 - 39/hour, depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate current cycle times of injection molding machines and identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce cycle times without compromising product quality, optimizing parameters such as cooling time, injection speed, and clamping force.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to mold performance, machinery, and materials that impact overall efficiency.
- Monitor and record processing data, including cycle time, machine utilization, and downtime, to analyze trends and drive improvements.
- Collaborate with maintenance, quality, mold shop, and production teams to implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records of process changes, optimization efforts, and results to support quality assurance and compliance standards.
- Provide training and guidance to setup and process technicians on best practices for process optimization and machine operation.
- Work closely with the quality control team to ensure optimized processes maintain the highest product quality standards.
- Ensure all optimization activities comply with company safety standards and industry regulations.
- Participate actively in 5S initiatives, continuous improvements, and mini projects.
Requirements
- Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field, preferably in Quality, Manufacturing, or Engineering.
- Proven experience working with plastic injection and/or blow molding is required.
- Proficiency in injection molding process parameters, machinery, and mold design.
- Injection Molding Professional Certification is an asset.
- Experience with process optimization tools and techniques, such as DOE (Design of Experiments) and statistical analysis.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD software and mold flow simulation tools is an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues.
- High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining the highest quality standards.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Incumbent spends almost 100% of time in the plant environment, requiring varying degrees of moderate physical labour. The majority of the work involves considerable standing and walking as well as some lifting, pulling, and pushing light objects. Personal safety is affected by exposure to heat, dust, and noise levels. Considerable sensory attention is required. Limited control of work pace and unexpected workflow brings some stresses to this position. Exposure to hazardous materials and/or chemicals may be required.
