Job Summary

Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Outreach Worker will offer early intervention for women involved in the sex trade through empathetic first response street-level engagement through outreach services. The worker will also provide referrals and transitions to other services, build and consolidate partnerships with stakeholders, and provide preventative activities such as education in the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Staff the drop-in and attend all programs and department staff meetings and relevant Mount Carmel Clinic committees
  • Perform household duties on a rotating basis or as needed basis
Qualifications

Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle

Minimum of 2 years' experience working in community, preferably with program target population

Experience providing outreach with hard-to-reach populations

Proven knowledge and ability in relationship-building, critical thinking, facilitation, decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills

Demonstrated ability to prioritize and focus work-related activities to effectively and efficiently achieve service goals and produce expected results/outcomes

Commitment to the principles that guide Mount Carmel Clinic, as reflected in the history, vision, mission, and values

Knowledge and historical factors that affect the health and well-being of Indigenous individuals and families

Proven ability to work within a team environment with respect, professionalism, cooperation, sensitivity, and cultural awareness

Strong knowledge, commitment, and demonstrated ability to apply diversity, equity, cultural safety, pro-choice, social determinants of health, population health, harm reduction, trauma-informed, and community development principles in all aspects of the work

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and proficiency in the use of computer systems

Post-secondary education in a Social Services field
