Job Title: Supervisor of Community Outreach and Advocacy

At Downtown Community Safety Partnership, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Supervisor of Community Outreach and Advocacy. This role will play a critical part in leading our outreach and advocacy efforts, working closely with our team to develop and implement strategies that promote community safety and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the outreach and advocacy team, ensuring that they have the necessary resources and support to excel in their roles.
  • Develop and implement outreach and advocacy strategies that align with the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and other organizations to promote collaboration and coordination.
  • Conduct regular case management meetings with team members to discuss progress, challenges, and areas for improvement.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of case files, ensuring that all necessary information is accurately recorded and up-to-date.
  • Assist in the development of operational requirements and ensure that statistics are accurately compiled and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Supervise a reasonable caseload of participants, working closely with team members to ensure that their needs are met and that they receive the necessary support.
  • Document and report all staff-related personnel issues to the COAR Manager.
  • Assist with HR functions, including recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding for DCSP.
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary educational background in Social Services or a related discipline is an asset.
  • Experience in crisis counseling and outreach is considered an asset.
  • Proven experience with direct engagement with vulnerable populations.
  • Proven experience in case management.
  • Knowledge and understanding of harm reduction frameworks.
  • Excellent interpersonal, team building, problem-solving, advocacy, and communication skills.
  • Understanding of issues related to mental health/care systems and needs.
  • Knowledge of community development and outreach.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to use sound judgment while working under demanding conditions and circumstances.
  • Strong computer skills and knowledgeable with Excel, Word, Outlook, Internet, etc.
  • Ability to perform physical duties, including standing and being on foot for a period of time, routinely lifting, carrying, and moving materials up to 15 lbs.
  • Certification in First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, ASIST, and/or NVCI is an asset.
  • Must be available to work days.
  • This role is subject to a Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search, and a Child Abuse Registry Check, to be produced prior to commencing employment.
