We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Educational Leader to join our team at Branksome Hall, a leading IB World School in Toronto. As an esteemed educator, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the minds of over 900 bright students and collaborating with 230 passionate colleagues.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Histoire to students in Senior and Middle School on a full-time contract basis. You will be part of a vibrant community that values social-emotional learning, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Your creativity, strong communication skills in both French and English, and ability to build caring relationships with students and colleagues will make you an excellent fit for this role.
Responsibilities
- Create a stimulating class environment that inspires learning and personal growth using a lens of social-emotional learning.
- Establish effective rapport with students and motivate them to develop essential skills, attitudes, and knowledge.
- Maintain good relationships with parents, faculty, and staff members.
- Deliver interactive education programs electronically and use electronic communication to engage with students, parents, colleagues, and the community.
- Ensure curriculum alignment with IB and Ministry of Education standards, focusing on differentiation.
- Develop course outlines, unit plans, and lesson plans that integrate all aspects of the IB Middle Years Program and Diploma Program curricula.
- Update records accurately as required by Ministry, IBO, and school guidelines.
- Communicate student progress regularly through report cards and parent-teacher meetings.
- Stay updated on subject area developments and approaches to teaching and learning through professional reading and participation in workshops.
- Participate actively in faculty and department/division meetings and meet regularly with course teams to plan, review, and update the curriculum.
- Assume responsibility for co-curricular activities and participate in day and overnight trip supervisions as required.
- Mentor students as an Advisor and meet with them regularly.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution with a specialist in History.
- Ontario College of Teachers certification or equivalent degree with I/S qualifications in History.
- French teaching qualifications would be considered an asset.
- Minimum three years' teaching experience, preferably teaching classes in the French language.
- Experience in and knowledge of IB is a strong asset.
- Knowledge of relevant technology and ability to work in a laptop and online environment.
- Belief in Branksome Hall's mission, vision, and values.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in both English and French.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Strong time management skills.
Salary and Benefits
