Job Title: Social Worker 2

Shkaabe Makwa, Clinical Services is seeking a full-time, permanent First Nations, Inuit or Métis (FNIM) Social Worker 2 to provide addictions and concurrent disorders service to FNIM clients on an outpatient basis, as well as providing support to FNIM clients in CAMH inpatient services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate orientation circles and provide comprehensive assessments
  • Group facilitation on topics of recovery and coping skills around substance use, mental health, and trauma
  • Provide limited individual counselling and discharge planning
  • Support Cultural Care Practitioners in conducting ceremonies and providing traditional teachings
  • Liaise with other inpatient and outpatient CAMH services, as well as FNIM community agencies, to coordinate and deliver care
Requirements:
  • Master's of Social Work degree combined with 3 years of post-graduate work experience
  • Registration and membership in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers
  • Eligibility for adjunct/status-only appointments with university faculties associated with CAMH
  • Clinical experience working with FNIM people who have addictions and concurrent disorders
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in providing quality care to First Nation, Inuit, and Métis clients, collaborating with First Nation, Inuit, or Métis service providers, organizations, and communities
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification with substance use interventions such as Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, and Seeking Safety
  • Knowledge of FNIM cultures, history, historical trauma, intergenerational trauma, and social determinants of health
  • Comprehensive knowledge of community FNIM substance use service delivery networks, organizations, communities, resources, and referral sources
