The Government of Saskatchewan is seeking a highly skilled Senior Media Relations Consultant to join our Communications and Sector Relations Branch. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in shaping the ministry's media relations strategy and ensuring effective communication with the public, media, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a ministry contact and arrange media interviews to promote the ministry's initiatives and programs.
  • Research and prepare a wide range of written materials, including news releases, backgrounders, and media interview guides, to support the ministry's communications goals.
  • Monitor issues and trends in media coverage and correspondence to ensure the ministry's message is being effectively communicated.
  • Develop and implement communications plans to support the ministry's goals and objectives, aligning with the Government of Saskatchewan's overall communications strategy.
  • Write and edit other written communications materials, such as press releases, media advisories, and talking points, to ensure consistency and accuracy.

Requirements:

  • A certificate or degree in journalism or communications, or a combination of education and work experience in a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of media relations, public relations, and communications principles and practices.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, with the ability to adapt to different audiences and formats.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Preference will be given to qualified equity group members who self-declare in this online application.

Working Conditions:
