Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain trusting relationships with families, providing a safe and non-judgmental space for them to share their concerns and goals.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of family needs, identifying areas for support and developing personalized service plans to address these needs.
  • Collaborate with Public Health Nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for families.
  • Provide education and support to parents on effective parenting strategies, child development, and health promotion.
  • Connect families with community resources and services to enhance their overall well-being.
  • Participate in regular reflective supervision and case management meetings to ensure high-quality service delivery and continuous improvement.
Requirements
  • 2 years of experience working with families with young children in a related field, such as family support, early childhood education, or social work.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in a related field an asset.
  • Valid class 5 driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Fluent English reading, writing, and oral skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with Indigenous families and communities.
  • Knowledge of early childhood growth and development, effective parenting, and social factors that affect health and well-being.
  • Certification as a Family Support Worker, Early Childhood Educator, or other relevant education.
Working Conditions

The Families First Home Visitor 2 will work in a variety of community settings, including homes, community centers, and other locations. The position requires the ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 15 lbs, climb stairs, and kneel/sit on the floor when engaging in parent-child centered activities. Evening and weekend work may be required to meet client needs.
