About the Role

This is a permanent full-time position in our Commercial Mortgage department. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the profitability of our commercial term and CMHC insured construction lending programs under the leadership of our Vice President, Origination.

The incumbent will originate conventional and insured commercial mortgage opportunities nationally through direct relationships, as well as through our commercial broker network. This will involve developing, maintaining, and managing relationships with borrowers, brokers, and other market participants.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Critically assess loan applications and recommend said applications for approval
  2. Manage approved transactions through the commitment and funding stages of the loan life cycle
  3. Build, maintain, and manage relationships with clients
  4. Educate new and current clients on our products
  5. Represent us at various industry events
  6. Provide input into new product initiatives based on market needs
  7. Monitor client service levels to ensure they are met

The incumbent must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work independently in an environment with colleagues.

Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 to 7 years experience in the commercial mortgage market with prior experience and a proven track record originating commercial mortgages
  • In-depth CMHC multi-family term and construction experience is preferred
  • Proficient with MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative/confidence and be decisive
  • Familiarity with CMHC policy and the multi-family marketplace is an asset
