We are seeking an experienced Medical Molecular Diagnostics Specialist to join our team at Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic and collaborative environment, working closely with our team of laboratory physicians and scientists.

Salary: An excellent remuneration package including relocation assistance is provided. The estimated salary for this position ranges from $364,597 to $424,123 per year.

Job Description:

The Medical Molecular Diagnostics Specialist will be responsible for maintaining the highest possible standards of practice, delivering prompt services to meet established key performance indicators and provincial metrics. Key responsibilities include:

  • Molecular pathology sign-out
  • Participation in quality assurance and quality improvement programs
  • Active participation in undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate medical teaching
  • Becoming an active zonal consultant in areas of expertise and interacting with clinical stakeholders

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • An MD degree
  • Eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta with certification in Anatomic Pathology or General Pathology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the American Board of Pathology
  • Fellowship training in Molecular Pathology is required for this position
  • Effective communication skills in quality assurance, operational efficiency, and appropriateness of care
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, changing environment that allows for delivery of quality service
  • Ability to balance service and quality imperative in a resource-sensitive environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively, building trust in working relationships, and being an overall team player
