Job Summary

Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. is seeking a highly experienced and strategic leader to serve as our Vice President of Development and Fundraising. This is a hybrid remote position located in Windsor, CO, with the possibility of remote work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Planning and Leadership:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy, aligned with the organization's mission and goals, to drive revenue growth, enhance donor relations, and support the organization's mission.
    • Collaborate with the Executive team and Board of Trustees to ensure development strategies are aligned with the organization's vision and strategic priorities.
    • Lead and mentor the Development team, fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, and professional growth.
    • Oversee all aspects of fundraising activities, including major gifts, corporate partnerships, annual and planned giving, grants, stock donations, and special events.
  • Grant Writing and Management:
    • Oversee the grant writing process, including identifying potential funding opportunities, developing proposals, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
    • Manage relationships with grant-making organizations and track progress towards funding goals.
  • Team Management and Development:
    • Lead, inspire, and manage the Development team, including setting clear and measurable goals, providing feedback, and supporting professional development.
  • Budget and Resource Management:
    • Develop and manage the development department's budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and alignment with financial goals.
    • Monitor financial performance and ensure that development activities are cost-effective and within budget.
  • Brand and Market Positioning:
    • Partner with Marketing to create consistent donor messaging and community-wide brand awareness.
    • Facilitate and guide Volunteers in effective development and fundraising based on the organizational mission and strategic goals.
  • Portfolio Management and Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Personally manage a portfolio of major donor prospects, traveling regularly to cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and contributing toward the organization's goal.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in development, fundraising, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
  • Proven track record of detailed annual planning resulting in successful revenue generation and growth, fundraising and donor engagement.
  • Experience and demonstrated ability to engage independently with major individual and corporate donors and to secure revenue from these sources.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of nonprofit development and fundraising networking.
  • Ability to point to specific examples of leading organizational transformation projects and substantial organizational development and fundraising activities.
  • Familiarity with broad set of best practices of donor portfolio management, including identification, cultivation, and stewardship to expand of a donor base.
  • Understanding of the principles of comprehensive private philanthropy programs, including individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
  • Experience leveraging fundraising databases and support systems for donor segmentation, research, and targeted acquisition.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage a team.
  • Exhibits the highest standards of honesty and integrity reflective of a senior leader within an exceptional organization.
