About the Role
Export Development Canada (EDC) is seeking a Senior Technical Advisor to join our Technical Advisory Services team. As a Senior Technical Advisor, you will provide technical and commercial advice to internal clients, including EDC's financing teams, insurance teams, and capital markets teams. You will work closely with our clients to identify and mitigate technical and commercial risks associated with transactions, and provide recommendations on strategies to reduce these risks.

The Technical Advisory Services team is a dynamic and growing team of seven technical advisors who cover a wide range of industrial sectors. As a Senior Technical Advisor, you will have the opportunity to expand your knowledge and skills, and support your colleagues in other sectors as needed.

Responsibilities
- Provide technical and commercial advice to internal clients, including EDC's financing teams, insurance teams, and capital markets teams.
- Conduct technical and commercial risk assessments, and provide recommendations on strategies to reduce these risks.
- Examine key documents, including business plans, feasibility studies, cost estimates, implementation plans, technical designs, timelines, and related commercial contracts.
- Formulate recommendations to internal clients on strategies to reduce technical, commercial, and financial risks.
- Conduct independent research and analyze relevant information; interview key participants in the transaction as needed.
- Stay up-to-date as an expert on existing and emerging technologies, sector trends, and competitive climate.
- Manage relationships with external technical consultants, including developing mandates, selecting and recruiting consultants, serving as a liaison, and reviewing their reports.
- Contribute to global and sectoral strategies.
- Ensure liaison with external clients and other parties as needed, including playing an expert role with lenders.
- Travel for site visits or meetings, both domestically and internationally. Travel typically lasts between 1 and 7 days, 2 to 6 times per year.
Requirements
- University degree in engineering.
- At least 7 years of relevant professional experience in a technical, consulting, project management, or related industry role.
- Professional engineer designation, or eligibility for registration in Canada.
- Willingness and ability to travel to Canada and abroad for site visits or meetings, as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the private sector.
- Experience in external consulting services.
- Degree or training in business administration, finance, or a related field.
- Proficiency in both official languages (English and French).
Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $107,132 to $142,842, plus performance-based incentives.
Work Location
- Export Development Canada offers a hybrid work environment.
- The selected candidate will work at EDC's head office in Ottawa.
- Relocation assistance will be offered to eligible candidates.
