Financial Reporting Specialist

The Law Society of Alberta is seeking a highly skilled Financial Reporting Specialist to join its Accounting department. In this role, you will work closely with the Manager, Finance and Accounting to prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting information to meet the financial information needs of all stakeholders.
As a member of the Accounting team, you will be responsible for a variety of accounting tasks, including the preparation of monthly working papers and financial statements with analysis, providing documentation and analysis to external auditors, and preparing bank reconciliations, GST returns, and cash management and analysis.
Key responsibilities include:
- Working closely with the Manager, Finance and Accounting to perform a variety of accounting tasks.
- Preparation of monthly working papers and financial statements with analysis.
- Providing documentation and analysis to external auditors.
- Preparing bank reconciliations, GST returns, and cash management and analysis.
- Investigation and reconciliation of interfund and intercompany accounts.
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly financial reports and budget variance analysis.
- Providing ongoing support to department managers regarding financial data and information requests.
The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting background, with a minimum of three years of related financial reporting and accounting experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamic Great Plains (GP2016) and/or Business Central is considered an asset. Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, are also required.
