About the Role

The Humber Bay Sailing Centre is seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Manager to lead our organization into its next phase of growth. As a key full-time employee, you will be responsible for driving business development, enhancing our services, and working closely with a committed Board to achieve organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of independent instructors and oversee the recruitment of additional instructors to create an inviting environment.
  • Drive growth in both our sailing school and boat-sharing club by creating, implementing, promoting, and selling all education programming.
  • Oversee the management of the Sailing Club, including the sale of club memberships and the delivery of club programs.
  • Manage and oversee the club's physical property, including the premises, facilities, and equipment.
  • Effectively manage all direct reports and contractors, including sailing instructors, by fostering a positive working environment through clearly defined duties, proactive communication, and ongoing coaching and performance management.
  • Provide managerial oversight of all administrative processes, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and security of systems and practices, and recommend improvements to the Board of Directors as necessary.
Requirements
  • Degree in Sport Management, Club Management, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 years of experience in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Knowledge of sailing and the sailing industry is an asset, but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with the public and represent HBSC daily.
  • Sales and customer service experience is essential for this role.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Teams, and other MS platforms.
  • Ability to quickly learn and use HBSC registration software.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
  • Enthusiastic team player with the ability to work independently.
