About the Role
We are seeking an Occupational Therapist to join our Allied Health Services team at Shannex Incorporated. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in helping our residents achieve their full potential and live independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and interpret standardized and non-standardized tests and evaluations to assess residents with occupational therapy-related concerns.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical records, observation, and referral, and confer with interdisciplinary staff regarding overall treatment plans for residents.
- Evaluate the progress of residents in relation to occupational therapy treatment provided, and confer with nursing staff and physicians regarding the effectiveness of treatment.
- Prepare progress reports, funding requests, and statistical reports relating to occupational therapy treatment programs and resident needs, and maintain treatment records as required.
- Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team, provide evaluation and progress reports on residents, and design and produce adaptive equipment, utensils, splints, or other orthotic devices as needed for use by residents.
- Coordinate the management of facility equipment, contact suppliers for service and maintenance of wheelchairs, geri chairs, and power wheelchairs, and provide staff training on ergonomics, seating assessment, skin integrity, equipment, and other related topics as required.
About You
We are looking for a highly skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapist who is passionate about delivering high-quality care to our residents. In addition to a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy and current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Occupational Therapists, you will possess knowledge of the principles and practices of occupational therapy, anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology as related to the practice of occupational therapy.
