Senior Export Control Specialist

At Trade Ready, our team of experts is dedicated to ensuring complete compliance with all Export Control legislation within the areas that our company supplies goods and software from within Canada & USA. Our goal is to maintain a seamless trade environment for our business while upholding the highest standards of regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to all relevant foreign trade regulations, including individual instructions from competent authorities.
- Develop and implement processes to guarantee Import and Export compliance within Canada, the U.S, UK, and other EU countries.
- Oversee and manage Export Control compliance across all regions.
- Collect and report data for KPI measurement and scheduled government reporting cycles.
- Serve as the Export Control expert, ensuring our company is aware of its Export Control obligations and consequences of non-compliance.
- Apply Export Control requirements to emerging technologies, such as Cloud-based products and delivery mechanisms.
- Maintain accurate foreign trade data for purchased raw materials and sold goods, including classification under EAR, Canadian consolidated list of strategic military and dual-use items, and EU Commerce Control List.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree preferred; or high school diploma + relevant experience.
- Minimum 5 years of customs experience.
- Sound knowledge and practical application of customs and export control in the DE, FR, EU, USA, and CDN markets.
- Good technical understanding of company products, encryption, and encryption techniques.
- Ability to understand the key parameters determining if a Trade Ready product is Dual-Use, specifically as it relates to encryption hardware and software.
- Excellent understanding of international sanctions and their practical application.
- Proficiency in standard office tools (MS Office, ERP, SAP).
- Familiarity with governmental online systems (Canada: EXCOL, USA: SNAP-R) and permit application processes.
- Understanding of Export Regulations in Cloud applications.
- Sanction process expertise, including monitoring, analyzing, and applying international sanctions.
