About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Communications Engineer to join our Transportation Systems Rail & Transit team in Calgary or Edmonton. As a senior technical resource, you will provide detailed support to the Rail Systems delivery team and industry partners, leveraging your expertise in wired/wireless network security and communication design.

Key Responsibilities
  • Formulate and develop advanced program concepts, techniques, and standards in communication engineering
  • Provide senior-level communication design effort in support of public transit projects and railway projects
  • Participate in validation & verification activities and produce test procedures
  • Oversee and direct production of design reports, drawings, and technical specifications
  • Be responsible for communications system technical reviews for design submissions and RFI responses
  • Leverage communication design abilities and proven knowledge from past successful projects to deliver world-class projects
  • Work with clients and vendors to generate KPIs used for analysis of the communication system
  • Produce communications requirements including those for wired/wireless network and RF design
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related engineering discipline from an accredited University recognized by APEGA
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Alberta (P. Eng.) or equivalent with ability to get P. Eng. license in Alberta
  • Senior-level communications design and/or operations experience in public transit industry or comparable industries
  • Demonstrable experience in at least two of the following areas: data network design, radio systems design, high-level end-to-end conceptual technical designs, outside plant infrastructure design, and CBTC-based signalling systems
  • Critical attention to specification details and project deadlines
  • Proven leadership and management skills
  • Ability to work successfully in multi-disciplinary teams and across different business units in a matrix organization
