At Kootenay Employment Services Society, we are seeking a skilled Permanency Outreach Counsellor to join our team in the Family Strengthening Program. This part-time position is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about making a positive impact on families and communities.

About the Role

The successful candidate will provide therapy-based services to adoptive families and caregivers/families who have children and youth join their family through other avenues. Our Family Strengthening Program works from a trauma-informed lens, utilizing best practices and evidence-based models to support families in building strong relationships and coping with challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate family-based intervention plans in collaboration with the integrated case management team.
  • Provide culturally agile counselling services, focusing on parent-child relationships, strengthening parent capacity, behavior support, and group work as needed.
  • Offer crisis support on weekends and evenings based on family needs.
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A bachelor's level degree in Social Work, Child & Youth Care, or a related field in Human Services.
  • A minimum of 1 year of related experience and specific knowledge of brief therapy/solution-focused therapy, counselling, or crisis intervention approaches.
  • Education, training, or experience demonstrating the ability to utilize various strategies to address issues such as child abuse/neglect, family violence, and mental health challenges.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $45,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience. This is a part-time position, approximately 20 hours per week. As a valued member of our team, you will also receive:
