About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Sushi Chef and Kitchen Team Member to join our team at Sushi & Noodle Bar in Fortino's. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking complete meals and individual dishes, as well as training staff in preparation, cooking, and handling of food.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation and Cooking: Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods, ensuring high-quality standards and presentation.
  • Staff Training and Development: Train staff in preparation, cooking, and handling of food, promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment, ensuring efficient use of resources and minimizing waste.
  • Cleanliness and Safety: Clean kitchen and work areas, maintaining a safe and healthy environment for staff and customers.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to handle heavy loads, work in a physically demanding environment, and stand for extended periods.
  • Work Conditions: Ability to work under pressure, maintain attention to detail, and perform repetitive tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Cultural Competency: Provides cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees, promoting a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers and newcomers/refugees.
  • Language: Fluency in English.
  • Work Schedule: 35 to 44 hours per week.
