We are seeking a Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse to provide psychiatric nursing care services to patients in a virtual setting.
The Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse will provide and coordinate the delivery of psychiatric nursing care services to patients, working collaboratively with the interprofessional care team to provide person-centered and recovery-oriented care. The successful candidate will have a strong background in mental health and substance use treatment, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
**Key Responsibilities:**
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for assigned patients
• Participate in and support the total therapeutic program of the unit
• Collect information from various sources to enable the provision of appropriate nursing care
• Write timely and accurate reports of relevant assessments and observations
• Communicate and consult with members of the healthcare team about patients' care
• Act as an advocate to protect and promote patients' rights
• Participate in quality improvement activities and research
• Participate in the orientation and ongoing education of nursing staff and students
**Qualifications:**
• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse
• One year recent related experience in inpatient mental health services
• Current Class 5 Driver's License and access to personal vehicle for business-related purposes
**Skills and Abilities:**
• Ability to complete initial and ongoing mental health and substance use client assessment and provide nursing care
• Knowledge of mental illness and substance use treatment
• Knowledge of psychopharmacology (indications and side-effects)
• Counselling and group facilitation skills
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with patients, families, and healthcare teams
