Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Director of Human Resources to join our team at Hilton Worldwide, Inc. This role will be responsible for assisting the Director in the direction and administration of the Human Resources function, ensuring the delivery of outstanding guest service and financial profitability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and manage all functions of team member relations, including recruitment and selection, benefit and compensation administration, continuous learning, training and development, performance management, coaching and counselling, and health & safety.
  • Manage and supervise the daily activities of the Human Resources department, fostering positive team member relations and providing a favourable climate for continuous and effective employer-team member relations within the hotel.
  • Build and maintain a positive working relationship between the hotel and recognized Union, addressing issues that arise from a labour relations perspective.
  • Provide Department Heads with the necessary support for continuous learning, training and development of their team members, promoting and organizing regular team member performance development reviews in all departments of the hotel.
  • Work with management and team members to ensure the effective facilitation of upward and downward communication, participating and directing hotel action plans based on the results of the Team Member Engagement Survey.
  • Develop, plan and coordinate Human Resource programs within the Hotel in accordance with Company Human Resources policies, practices and procedures, advising and ensuring compliance with local legislation concerning team members and working conditions.
  • Make recommendations to the Executive Team on all people-related issues, assisting with the successful running of the Joint Health & Safety Committee and handling all accident/illness related (WSIB) administration, filing reports, managing claims, monitoring and implementing RTW programs.
  • Assist with the delivery of training programs, including Hilton Brand Orientation, and be responsible for full-cycle recruitment initiatives for all positions, maintaining and tracking benefit eligibility, enrolment, ongoing changes, and terminations.
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the Human Resources Information System and Payroll, recommending organizational or procedural changes affecting administrative, clerical or HRIS activities, controlling costs when possible and assisting in meeting hotel/departmental financial targets.
  • Ensure pay reviews/absence monitoring/wage queries are managed in line with company guidelines, ensuring completion of training for hotel security, fire regulations and other health and safety legislation, and working with local organizations and schools to promote the hospitality industry.
  • Manage investigations and resolutions of team member and management queries, maintaining a positive and professional work environment.
Requirements
  • Previous HR managerial experience, preferably in a unionized environment.
  • Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to respond to a range of different work situations, with the ability to work on their own and in teams.
  • Knowledge of hospitality and previous experience working with payroll systems and processes, with a commitment to delivering a high level of customer service, both internally and externally.
