About the Role

Aecon is seeking a highly skilled Global Mobility Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on international relocation and immigration matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Immigration and Mobility Services
    • Provide expert advice on US and international immigration laws and regulations
    • Assist with the smooth transition of cross-border talent by liaising between employees, HR, payroll, benefits, tax, and operations
    • Manage tax process and filing requirements for employees, including preparation of secondment agreements and certificates of coverage
  • Global Mobility Support
    • Provide project mobility guidance and support, including researching visa and work permit requirements
    • Facilitate the relocation process for employees and their families, including housing, shipping of personal goods, and setting up bank accounts
  • Policy Development and Implementation
    • Develop and enhance templates, checklists, brochures, and policies for cross-border and international projects
    • Provide strategic input into the continued development of 'best in class' mobility programs and practices
  • Relationship Building and Communication
    • Develop and maintain effective relationships with team members, internal stakeholders, and external vendors
    • Provide comprehensive relocation support for arriving and departing expats, including housing, shipping of personal goods, and setting up bank accounts
Requirements
  • Education
    • Post-secondary education in a field related to personnel management, such as business administration, industrial relations, commerce, or completion of a professional development program in personnel administration or equivalent
  • Experience
    • 2-3 years' experience working in immigration
    • 2-3 years' experience working in mobility
    • 2-3 years' experience working in human resources or talent acquisition
  • Skills
    • Strong understanding of Canadian and/or US immigration laws
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and matrixed environment with high resilience
    • Superior problem-solving skills, ability to demonstrate agility in creating valuable solutions to complex issues quickly
    • Proven ability to maintain confidential information
    • Demonstrated attention to detail
    • Strategic thinker
    • Ability to prioritize and balance multiple assignments and accountabilities
    • Tactful and effective written and verbal communication skills, ability to interact with all levels within the organization and influence as required
    • Strong reporting, analytical, and process improvement skills
    • Strong customer service skills with the proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with team members as well as internal and external stakeholders
What We Offer
  • Compensation and Benefits
    • $66,000 to $68,000 annually
    • Work 37.5 hours/week
