We are seeking a skilled Patient Advocate to join our team at the Lansdowne Centre in Kamloops, British Columbia.

About the Role:

  • This is a permanent part-time (0.60 FTE) opportunity for a Patient Advocate to work with clients struggling with mental health and substance use issues.
  • The successful candidate will utilize their lived experience and skills to provide one-on-one support and coaching to clients, helping them identify and meet their goals.
  • As a Patient Advocate, you will work closely with the Mental Health Substance Use (MHSU) team and community partners to ensure clients receive comprehensive care and support.
  • You will have autonomy to determine aspects of the care plan with clients and work collaboratively to promote self-determination, choice, and harm reduction.
  • Services may be provided in various environments, depending on client needs.

Requirements:

  • Education and Experience: Two years of lived experience in recovery from substance use, co-occurring substance use and mental illness, or mental illness. Alternatively, a Certificate in a Social Services program and completion of a recognized Peer Support Training program, plus two years of recent related experience in a peer support role.
  • Skills and Abilities: Ability to engage clients, establish and maintain rapport, work with diverse populations, communicate effectively, analyze and problem solve, model life skills, and advocate for clients.
