About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled MRI Technologist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for operating MRI equipment, performing imaging procedures, and providing exceptional patient care.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in medical imaging, with a focus on MRI technology. They will be able to work independently, making sound decisions and taking initiative to ensure high-quality patient care. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you will be working closely with patients, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate MRI equipment to produce high-quality images for diagnostic purposes
  • Perform imaging procedures, including MRI scans and other related tasks
  • Provide exceptional patient care, ensuring comfort and safety throughout the imaging process
  • Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate diagnoses and effective treatment plans
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest MRI technology and best practices, participating in ongoing education and training

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited School with a diploma in Health Technology, e.g. RT and successful completion of the Canadian Association of Medical Radiological Technology MRI exams
  • Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) certification
  • Nova Scotia College of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Professionals (NSCMIRTP) licensure
  • Previous MRI experience preferred
  • Demonstrate competency in I.V. insertion
  • Frequent independent decisions assessing diagnostic results recognizing the significance of all structures visualized, differentiating artifactual from normal or pathological and improvising standard techniques in routine and non-routine circumstances
  • Ensures competency, maintains an ongoing interest in updating knowledge on new equipment and procedures
  • Practices excellent patient care; demonstrating courtesy, kindness and understanding using effective communication skills
  • Operates computer system in regard to patient information
  • Highly adaptable professional who can think critically and thrive as a member of a dynamic team
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
