Job Description: Advanced Bariatric Nurse SpecialistWe are seeking an experienced Advanced Bariatric Nurse Specialist to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years' experience as an NP in primary care, long-term care, acute care or continuing care, and be registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse in the extended Class (Primary Health Care or Adult).
The ideal candidate will possess excellent clinical skills, strong communication and interpersonal abilities, and a demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care. Key responsibilities include:
- Diagnosing, ordering, and interpreting diagnostic tests and prescribing pharmaceuticals within scope of practice;
- Updating policies, procedures, and standards of care for the Bariatric Program;
- Providing clinical expertise, guidance, and education to patients and staff;
- Assisting in the coordination of activity between surgical and medical clinics;
- Working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and physicians;
- Communicating abnormal findings with the team;
- Conducting health assessments and focused physical exams on high-risk patients;
- Facilitating transitions of care from hospital to community settings;
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives and research studies;

Qualifications and SkillsTo be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following qualifications and possess the following skills:
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse in the extended Class (Primary Health Care or Adult);
- Member of the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario preferred;
- Minimum 2 years' experience as an NP in primary care, long-term care, acute care or continuing care;
- CDE and CBE certification preferred;
- Demonstrated knowledge of bariatric care, community resources, crisis work, and relevant legislation;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- Ability to establish positive relationships with all staff, clients, families, and community agencies;
- Excellent verbal and written presentation skills;
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team;
- Excellent computer skills using Office 365;
- Knowledge of quality improvement processes, data analysis, and program development;
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in patient-centered care;
- Able to work independently with minimal support;
