Job Summary

This is a $53,000 - $63,000 per year permanent full-time opportunity with Island Health. The successful candidate will work with adults and youth who are struggling with mental health and substance use issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide supportive and educational groups to clients;
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and their families;
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care;
  • Facilitate referrals to community resources and services;
  • Conduct intake assessments and develop personalized plans for clients;
  • Monitor client progress and make adjustments to plans as needed;

Requirements
  • A post-secondary certificate in addiction counselling or an equivalent combination of education and experience;

  • Knowledge of chemical dependency and community resources;
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing;
  • Ability to deal with seriously addicted and mentally ill clients and their families;
