Farm Operations Manager

Hillside Gardens Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Farm Foreman/Woman to join our team. As a key member of our agricultural team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our farm, ensuring the highest quality crops are produced while maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
- Maintain accurate financial and production records to track crop yields, expenses, and labor costs.
- Negotiate with clients to provide exceptional customer service and ensure timely delivery of our products.
- Supervise and coordinate the work of general farm workers and harvesting laborers to ensure efficient crop production.
- Ensure all farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed, and address any issues promptly.
- Supervise and oversee growing and other crop-related operations to ensure optimal crop yields and quality.
- Maintain accurate work records and logs to track employee hours, crop production, and equipment maintenance.
- Hire and train staff to ensure a skilled and efficient workforce.
- Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment to ensure optimal crop production and minimize downtime.
- Perform general farm duties as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the farm.
- Maintain an inventory of supplies to ensure timely and efficient crop production.
- Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions, and address any issues promptly.
- 5-10 years of experience in agricultural crop production or a related field.
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate and relevant post-secondary education or training.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to effectively supervise and coordinate the work of farm workers.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make decisions quickly in response to changing circumstances.
- Physical stamina to work outdoors in a physically demanding environment.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate farm machinery and equipment.
The Farm Foreman/Woman will work in a rural area, outdoors, and in a fast-paced environment. The position requires the ability to work in a physically demanding environment, with regular exposure to the elements.
