About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Farm Operations Manager to join our team at Hillside Gardens Ltd. as a key member of our agricultural operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Farm Safety and Bio-Security Procedures

Assist in the development and implementation of comprehensive farm safety and bio-security procedures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.

Manage Financial and Production Records

Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial and production records, including crop yields, expenses, and sales data.

Negotiate with Clients

Negotiate with clients to provide services and ensure timely delivery of products.

Supervise Farm Workers

Supervise and oversee the work of general farm workers and harvesting laborers, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.

Ensure Farm Safety and Bio-Security

Ensure that farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed at all times, and that all employees are aware of and comply with these procedures.

Supervise Crop-Related Operations

Supervise and oversee growing and other crop-related operations, including planting, harvesting, and storage.

Maintain Work Records and Logs

Maintain accurate and up-to-date work records and logs, including employee hours, crop yields, and equipment maintenance.

Hire and Train Staff

Hire and train staff as needed to ensure that the farm is adequately staffed and that employees have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.

Operate and Maintain Farm Machinery and Equipment

Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment, including tractors, harvesters, and storage and silage systems.

Perform General Farm Duties

Perform general farm duties, including maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting of equipment and facilities.

Requirements
  • 5-10 Years of Experience

5-10 years of experience in farm operations, crop production, or a related field.

Leadership and Supervisory Experience

Leadership and supervisory experience, including experience in managing teams and overseeing operations.

Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to negotiate with clients and supervise employees.

Ability to Work in a Fast-Paced Environment

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make decisions quickly and effectively.

Physical Demands of the Job

The physical demands of the job include standing, walking, and lifting, as well as working in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
