Job Summary

Halton Healthcare is seeking a skilled Registered Practical Nurse to provide high-quality psychiatric care to adult inpatients in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver patient-centered care to individuals with complex mental health needs, including those with depression, suicidal tendencies, psychosis, and severe personality disorders.
  • Conduct thorough behavioral observations, mental status assessments, and physical evaluations to inform care planning.
  • Administer medications and monitor patient responses to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Document patient progress and communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Collaborate with charge nurses and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
Requirements
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification.
  • Minimum 1 year of acute adult mental health experience.
  • Strong understanding of psychopharmacology and psychiatric nursing principles.
  • Excellent assessment and crisis intervention skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Good team player with a strong commitment to patient-centered care.
