Mental Health Worker, Looking Glass Residence

At PHSA, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Worker to join our team at the Looking Glass Residence. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in supporting the recovery and well-being of our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of individualized recovery plans, ensuring that residents achieve their goals and reach their full potential.
  • Act as a role model, demonstrating and participating in activities that promote healthy lifestyles, interpersonal communication, and social skills.
  • Monitor and evaluate resident progress, reporting observations and insights to the nursing and medical staff as required.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to identify and address resident needs, skills, and goals, and to develop and implement effective treatment plans.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement activities, providing input and feedback to supervisors on processes and opportunities for improvement.
  • Drive residents to designated locations as scheduled, ensuring their safety and well-being during transportation.
  • Support the maintenance of a physically and emotionally safe environment for residents, and provide direction to volunteers and students during activity programs.
  • Participate in departmental and other meetings as requested, and maintain accurate records of resident progress and program activities.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12, Certificate in Community Mental Health, and one year recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Valid Class 4 BC Driver's License.
  • Valid First Aid Certificate and current CPR certification.
  • Ability to organize work, supervise, and communicate effectively.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada, as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
