As a Page, you will play a vital role in maintaining the physical integrity of our library collections, ensuring that materials are accurately shelved and easily accessible to our patrons.

Responsibilities:

  • Sort, shelve, and shelf read library materials, ensuring that they are accurately categorized and easily accessible.
  • Run and reconcile request pull lists and trace reports to ensure that materials are delivered to patrons in a timely manner.
  • Pull library materials identified for weeding, as instructed, and process withdrawn materials for disposal or sale.
  • Conduct inventory of collections to ensure that materials are accurately accounted for and easily accessible.
  • Empty bins and book drops, and pack and label outgoing bins for delivery to other locations.
  • Set up rooms for programs and events, and perform minor cleaning of public areas and equipment.
  • Answer or direct patron queries where appropriate, providing excellent customer service and support.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 10 education or equivalent.
  • Ability to organize materials following numerical and alphabetical sequences.
  • Physical fitness and ability to perform the requirements of the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver consistent, high-quality customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with the public and staff, and to work as a member of a team.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to assume responsibility and work independently with a minimum of direct supervision.
