About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Estimator to join our team at Whitemud Ironworks Limited. As a key member of our estimating department, you will play a critical role in preparing accurate and detailed estimates of labour and material costs for our projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Estimate Preparation: Prepare comprehensive estimates of labour and material costs for our projects, taking into account various factors such as project scope, timelines, and budget constraints.
  • Quote and Bid Management: Create and submit estimate reports, quote sheets, and bid forms to clients and stakeholders, ensuring that all necessary information is included and presented in a clear and concise manner.
  • Tender Analysis: Analyze tenders and recommend awards to our clients, considering factors such as cost, quality, and timelines.
  • Contract Management: Monitor and adjust contract expenditures to ensure that projects are completed within budget and on schedule.
  • Supply Chain Management: Prepare and maintain a directory of supplies and trade contractors, ensuring that all necessary information is up-to-date and easily accessible.
  • Communication and Liaison: Liaise, consult, and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates, ensuring that all parties are informed and aligned.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in estimating or a related field.
  • Certifications and Memberships: Membership in the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors.
  • Specialized Skills: Specialized environmental skills and knowledge.
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Ability to work under pressure, attention to detail, and ability to work 40 hours per week.
Language and Work Environment

The successful candidate will be fluent in English and will be able to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and priorities.
