About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Bridge Engineer/Team Lead to join our Transportation team in Markham, Brampton, or Ottawa, ON office. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on various projects and contribute to the planning, design, rehabilitation, and inspection of bridges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform project management for the planning, design, rehabilitation, and inspection of bridges;
  • Prepare design specifications required for both design of new structures and rehabilitation of existing structures;
  • Conduct analysis and design calculations as per the applicable codes, standards, and regulations;
  • Lead and manage assigned projects and ensure the achievement of project objectives;
  • Coordinate and supervise the appointed technicians and engineers to the project;
  • Participate and contribute in office/region coordination with other disciplines as required, including business development and resource sharing;
  • Mentor junior designers and provide direction for engineers during various phases of design and construction;
  • Review and revise technical documents required to produce the necessary tender documents for construction;
  • Prepare tender documents including specifications, quantities, and drawings;
  • Perform other various activities necessary for the implementation of projects;
  • Participate in proposal preparation.

Requirements

  • Experience with design of new structures and rehabilitation of existing structures;
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and registered as a P.Eng. in Ontario;
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in construction, design, and rehabilitation of bridges;
  • Must have experience working with MTO, Cities, and municipalities;
  • The ideal candidate will be RAQS registered, certified/able to register for multi-span bridge category with MTO;
  • Must have in-depth knowledge in the design of bridges and familiar with MTO design guidelines; specifications, and standards;
  • Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis software;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
