Job Title: Sous Chef

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at Stonesedge Kitchen. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for assisting the Executive Chef in the preparation and presentation of our menu items.

Job Summary:

The Sous Chef will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory
  • Demonstrating new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff
  • Supervising activities of specialist chefs, chefs, cooks, and other kitchen workers
  • Creating new recipes
  • Instructing cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation of food
  • Preparing and cooking complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets
  • Supervising cooks and other kitchen staff
  • Preparing and cooking food on a regular basis, or for special guests or functions
  • Preparing and cooking meals or specialty foods
  • Requisitioning food and kitchen supplies
  • Planning menus and ensuring food meets quality standards
  • Supervising activities of sous-chefs, specialist chefs, chefs, and cooks
  • Training staff in preparation, cooking, and handling of food
  • Leading/instructing individuals
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Other trades certificate or diploma
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Dependability, efficiency, and reliability
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail
Work Environment:

The successful candidate will be working in a restaurant environment with a rural location. The work site environment is wet/damp, noisy, and hot.
