Job Title: Youth Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Worker to join our team at the Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre. As a Youth Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting the well-being and development of Indigenous youth in our community.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support and guidance to Indigenous youth, ages 12-24, in a variety of settings, including our youth drop-in centre, school help service, and community outreach programs. This is a permanent, full-time position, working 35 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions to support the emotional and social well-being of Indigenous youth.
  • Develop and implement life skills workshops and programs to promote healthy living, education, and employment opportunities.
  • Assess client needs and develop personalized plans to support their goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with community agencies and organizations to provide comprehensive support services to Indigenous youth.
  • Participate in case conferences and team meetings to ensure effective communication and coordination of services.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports to track client progress and program effectiveness.
Requirements:
  • College/CEGEP diploma in a related field (e.g., social work, counseling, education).
  • Experience working with Indigenous youth and communities, preferably in a similar role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and coordination.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
