Job Title: Youth Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Youth Worker to join our team at the Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre. As a Youth Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting the well-being and development of Indigenous youth in our community.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support and guidance to Indigenous youth, aged 12-24, in a variety of settings, including our youth drop-in centre, school help service, and community outreach programs. You will work closely with our team to develop and implement programs that promote the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of our youth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual and group support to Indigenous youth, addressing their unique needs and challenges.
  • Develop and implement programs that promote healthy relationships, life skills, and cultural awareness.
  • Collaborate with community partners to provide access to education, employment, and other essential services.
  • Conduct assessments and develop case plans to support youth in achieving their goals.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support to youth in need.
  • Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the development of program policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., social work, education, Indigenous studies).
  • Experience working with Indigenous youth and communities.
  • Strong understanding of Indigenous cultures and histories.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
