Job Title: Youth Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Youth Worker to join our team at the Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre. As a Youth Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting the well-being and development of Indigenous youth in our community.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support and guidance to Indigenous youth, aged 12-24, in a variety of settings, including our youth drop-in centre, community programs, and outreach services. You will work closely with our team to develop and implement programs that promote youth empowerment, education, and cultural awareness.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual and group support to Indigenous youth, addressing their social, emotional, and cultural needs.
  • Develop and implement programs that promote youth empowerment, education, and cultural awareness.
  • Work collaboratively with community partners, schools, and other stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive approach to youth support.
  • Conduct assessments and develop case plans to address the unique needs of each youth.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support, as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, as required.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., social work, education, Indigenous studies).
  • Experience working with Indigenous youth, preferably in a community-based setting.
  • Strong understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, and current issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
