About the Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Biomedical Image Analysis Teaching Assistant to support our faculty members in the Department of BME872 Biomedical Image Analysis at Toronto Metropolitan University.

This is an excellent opportunity for graduate students to gain teaching experience, develop their skills in biomedical image analysis, and contribute to the academic community.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have a strong research background and in-depth knowledge of biomedical image analysis. You should also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

We encourage applications from graduate students in MASc or PhD programs who are passionate about teaching and mentoring students.

About the Job

The responsibilities of this position include:

  • Preparing labs/tutorials to ensure a strong grasp of content, procedures, and assignments
  • Grading lab/tutorial-related assessments
  • Preparing lab/tutorial materials as needed
  • Invigilating midterm and final exams
  • Laboratory supervision and facilitation, including setting up experiments, supervising and facilitating labs/tutorials, proctoring in lab tests, exams, and quizzes, demonstrating and explaining the use of equipment, helping students perform technical procedures, and assisting students in project work in specified laboratories/tutorials

You will also be expected to complete online training modules, including Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), Workplace Violence Prevention and Response, Access to Information and Protection of Privacy, Environmental Health and Safety, and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), within two weeks of your appointment date.

Compensation

As a teaching assistant at Toronto Metropolitan University, you can expect a competitive compensation package that includes:

  • Hourly rate: $47.06 per hour (Master's degree) or $50.82 per hour (PhD)
  • Estimated total hours of work: 40 hours per term (first section) or 35 hours per term (additional sections)

Please note that actual hours may vary based on qualifications, enrollment, and determined rate of pay. Employees can work up to a maximum of 130 hours per term or 390 hours per academic year.
